Teijon Kyläsauna
Teijon Kyläsauna at the old ironworks harbour in Salo is a 150-year-old stone village sauna run by volunteers, with a river pool that never freezes.
Teijo is one of the old ironworks villages on the coast west of Salo, and its village sauna stands at the works harbour in a stone building about 150 years old. The village association restored it by volunteer labour in the early 2010s, keeping the old stone walls, adding a large electric stove and turning the old oil-tank room into a fireplace lounge. In front of the sauna the river widens into a still pool that does not freeze even in winter, which has made the place a favourite of ice swimmers; the writer Kai Linnilä, a regular, liked to say the running water in the hole got colder than freezing.
