King Spa & Sauna
King Spa in Palisades Park, NJ: ten Korean sauna rooms including a wood-fired Bulhanjeungmak, gold pyramid and ice room, plus baths and a Korean kitchen.
King Spa describes itself as the largest Korean spa and sauna on the East Coast, inspired by the Korean spa known as jjimjilbang. From its home on Commercial Avenue in Palisades Park it keeps ten different types of sauna rooms, each composed of different elements that the house says infuse heat with a therapeutic effect. The day runs like a Korean spa day: change into the provided uniform, move between sauna rooms and lounges, bathe in the gender-separated bath area if you choose, and eat in the restaurant between rounds. Doors are open from 9am until 2am every day, holidays included.
Bulhanjeungmak: wood-fired heat. A traditional Korean dome-shaped hot room where oak wood is burned at 280°F, with a floor of loess and salt. Infrared Ray Room: infrared heat. A far infrared therapy room. A pyramid room built with 23K gold leaf imported from Germany. Listed amenities: Changing rooms, Lockers, Showers, Parking, Hot pool / hydrotherapy, Steam room, Infrared sauna.
Listing type: Public bathhouse. Access: Walk-in. Listed capacity: Multi-level facility. Hours: Open on all major holidays. The restaurant runs 11am to 11pm, and the Bulhanjeungmak runs on set sessions through the day. Buy a general admission day pass online, or check in at the front desk with a valid government ID.
