How a sauna gets on SaunaShare.
Visitors write the reviews, and SaunaShare verifies each visit. Every listing also says where its details came from and how far they have been checked.
Reviews come from the people who go. SaunaShare can't sit in every sauna, so visitors write the reviews. Each visit is verified before a review goes live. Written by visitors. Reviews and review photos come from people who have been, in their own words. SaunaShare does not write them or pay for them. Every visit verified. SaunaShare asks about the visit, checks the answers against what the listing says, and confirms the reviewer's email with a code. A visit that does not add up is not published. Dated. Every review says when the visit was, and each listing shows its latest verified visit, so a review from last month never passes for one from three years ago. Their words, approved. The reviewer reads and approves the exact words, and the date of the visit, before anything is published. Owners update the page instead. Owners and staff are asked to update their listing rather than review their own sauna. Held when anything is off. A review that reads like an ad, uses bad language or does not make sense waits for a person. So does every one or two star review.
What every listing answers. The heat. Wood-fired, electric, smoke or infrared, and the heater or stove by name when it is documented. The cold. A cold plunge, a lake, the sea or a cold shower, whichever the place has. The room. How many it seats, the bench and wall wood, and who built it, when that is documented. Getting in. Walk in, book ahead, members only, hotel guests or a rental, with the link to book. Left out on purpose: prices and opening hours. They change by season, day and group size, so the booking page is the one place they are right.
Where the details come from. The operator's own pages. Their website, booking page and posts, read and linked on the listing. Public reporting. Newspapers, magazines and podcasts that covered the sauna, each linked by name. The operator, directly. Owners can claim their page for free and send corrections. What they send is labeled as theirs until SaunaShare checks it. Visitors. Corrections from people who have been go to a person at SaunaShare, who checks them before the page changes. A stay or a visit of our own. Where SaunaShare has stayed or visited, the page says when, and photos credited SaunaShare are our own.
What each label means. Details from public sources: Assembled from public information. Not yet reviewed with the operator. Reviewed from public sources: SaunaShare read the operator's current pages and the linked reporting, and reviewed the details against them. Details from the operator: The operator supplied them. SaunaShare has not confirmed them yet. Claimed by the operator: SaunaShare confirmed that the person who claimed the page is connected to the business. Checked with the operator: SaunaShare confirmed the business contact and reviewed selected listing details. SaunaShare pick: An editorial recommendation from SaunaShare's research. It is not a site inspection, a safety certification or a paid placement. Stayed here: SaunaShare stayed there as a guest. The page gives the month. Visited: SaunaShare went there for the sauna. The page gives the month. Verified visit: On a review: SaunaShare checked the visit and the reviewer's email before it went live. Visited in 2026: On a card: a verified visit, by a reviewer or by SaunaShare, in the last twelve months.
What SaunaShare never does. No paid listings. Nobody pays for a spot, a label or a higher place in a list. No cut of your booking. You book with the operator or on the rental site. SaunaShare is not part of the booking. No prices or hours. They change too often to keep right here. The booking page has the current ones. No inspection claims. A label is not a site inspection, a safety certification or an endorsement. No hidden owner. SaunaShare, Inc. also owns Sauna Marketplace, a sauna store. Store links are labeled, and good places are listed whether or not they use anything from our store.
Who writes the reviews on SaunaShare? Visitors. SaunaShare verifies each visit before a review goes live, and every review says when the visit was.
Does anyone pay to be listed on SaunaShare? No. Listing is free, nobody pays for a spot or a label, and SaunaShare never takes a cut of a booking.
Has SaunaShare been to every sauna it lists? No. Most pages are researched from the operator's own pages and public reporting, and their label says so, and visitors add reviews of their own verified visits. When SaunaShare has stayed or visited itself, the page gives the month.
What does SaunaShare pick mean? It is an editorial recommendation from SaunaShare's research. It is not a site inspection, a safety certification or a paid placement.
