Moki Sauna

Two Boston sauna yards from Moki: three Nordic saunas and a courtyard in South Boston, an all-outdoor village in Allston, cold plunges at both.

Moki started as a pop-up. Founder Mark Peloquin has told local press he came to sauna through old-school bathhouses in New York while he was working in digital marketing there, and that what got him was the hour without a phone. In early 2024 he parked wood-fired trailers and cedar barrel plunges on Boston's Rose Kennedy Greenway; the following winter he built a village in the Somernova courtyard in Somerville. The name is a play on the Finnish word for a woodland cabin. Two years on, the pop-ups have settled into two year-round Boston locations, with the Somerville village still running as a winter season.

Moki Sauna: wood-fired heat. Heater: A mix of wood-fired and electric across the sites. Allston's Big Trailer is a wood-fired sauna seating 12 over two levels; its outdoor 8-person sauna is electric. South Boston's three saunas are described as traditional Nordic. The seasonal Somerville village runs one wood-fired and one electric. Private rentals run from the 4-person Cozy Cabin in South Boston up to the 12-person wood-fired Big Trailer in Allston; the seasonal Somerville village can be booked whole for 20. Cold plunge: South Boston has a cedar barrel cold plunge indoors plus further plunges out in the courtyard. Allston has one large multi-person plunge, which they describe as adding "a communal factor" — several people go in at once. Hours: As listed on their site in August 2026 — Allston (267 Western Ave): Mon, Wed, Thu 5pm–9pm; Fri 2pm–9pm; Sat and Sun 8am–8pm. South Boston (385 Dorchester Ave): Mon–Thu 5pm–9pm; Fri 11am–8pm; Sat 9am–1pm; Sun 8am–8pm. The Somerville village is winter-only and is closed for the season.
