Sauna Jungle

A neighborhood Finnish sauna opening on Wilson Blvd in Arlington: two large löyly saunas, three cold plunges from 40°F to 60°F, and bucket showers.

Steven and Kira moved to Arlington, went looking for a simple neighborhood sauna to share with friends, and could not find one. So they are building it on Wilson Blvd, in a merged retail bay in Bluemont that used to hold a dry cleaner. The idea is in the name: a lush indoor plant jungle with a real Finnish sauna at the center of it, where throwing water on the stones is expected rather than tolerated, and where the cool down is a cold plunge, a bucket shower or a bench, your choice. It is aimed at the regular, not the tourist: book a session, sweat, plunge, repeat, go home on the trail.

The Finnish saunas: electric heat. Two large communal Finnish saunas heated by electric stoves with stones, one of them kept as a silent sauna, with water and ladles for löyly.
