Kaukajärven sauna
Kaukajärven sauna in eastern Tampere is a popular public sauna on clear Lake Kaukajärvi by the rowing stadium, open daily with year-round swimming.
Kaukajärvi is the clear lake in eastern Tampere where the city's rowers train, and the public sauna sits right beside the rowing stadium's stands. The local swimming club Uinti Tampere runs it, which is why the money goes into open-water swimming lessons and summer jobs for young people, and why the sauna is open every day of the year with an ice hole through the winter. The old sauna departments have been renovated, and a new building with a picture window onto the lake, a big terrace and its own changing rooms opened for extra capacity and private rentals. Regulars call it Kauksu.
