Alchemy Springs is building San Francisco's next big bathhouse on Post Street, and rather than wait for the walls it opened the garden first. The Sauna Garden is exactly what it sounds like: an open-air court whose centrepiece is a circular sauna seating forty on tiered benches, claimed as the largest freestanding sauna in the country, with two cold plunges, outdoor showers, thermal benches and a fire pit around it. The operator calls it a preview of what's to come, and the programming already runs like a bathhouse: guided contrast sessions, sound baths, yoga and the odd matchmaking night.
