MI Sauna is Dr. Daniel Sarya's wood-fired sauna, built on a trailer in 2020 with help from his son and nephew and stationed on the beach at Traverse City State Park, on Grand Traverse Bay. Sarya grew up in Traverse City in a family that emigrated from Finland, and built it to share the sauna culture he knew from visiting relatives there. Inside, tiered benches surround a wood stove stacked with stones and seat about eight. The public books seats in scheduled sessions, and the sauna can also be booked for a private group or rented for a day elsewhere.
